BOSTON – Hollywood titan Mark Wahlberg has unveiled his latest venture, 'Pray40,' a rigorous 40-day Lenten challenge in partnership with the Hallow prayer app, promising participants not just spiritual enlightenment but also, implicitly, a significant boost in general life success. The initiative, which launched this week, reportedly requires users to engage in prayer sessions so intense they are being compared to a spiritual HIIT workout.
“We’re not just talking about whispering a few Hail Marys here,” explained Dr. Agnes Periwinkle, lead theologian for the 'Spiritually Fit' think tank, from her undisclosed location. “Mr. Wahlberg’s program involves a proprietary blend of contemplative meditation, high-intensity vocal supplication, and a daily 5 AM 'spiritual sprint' to truly 'earn' your salvation. It's designed to make you feel closer to God, or at least closer to needing a nap.”
Wahlberg, who credits a priest from his youth for guiding him, stated in a promotional video, “If you can commit to 40 days of this, you’ll be stronger, faster, and spiritually ripped. And if you’re not, frankly, you probably weren't praying hard enough.” The app now features a 'Wahlberg Mode' which includes motivational voiceovers like, “Don’t just pray for it, *work* for it!” and “God helps those who help themselves… to another rosary.”
Initial reports suggest a 3% increase in local church attendance, primarily by individuals checking their phones for prayer streak updates. The Vatican has yet to comment, reportedly still trying to figure out how to integrate 'spiritual gains' into their annual reports.
